Since 1982 I have worked in the
conflict resolution field in the government and health sectors. As a local government employee I handled civil and criminal
consumer cases and advised companies ranging from small local businesses to multi-national corporations on their consumer
obligations and how to handle customer's effectively. I was a member of the British Institute of Trading Standards Administration,
the consumer protection professional body, for many years.
For 12 years I worked for the
British National Government as part of the Local Government Ombudsman’s team where I dealt with complaints about Council
service delivery, made recommendations for changes in local governmental system design and trained Council staff in effective
dispute resolution. I also worked as a project manager and chair person of statutory regional complaints panels for the
British National Health Service.
I am trained as a general mediator
with specialist training in parent and child, divorce and
housing mediation. I take small claims, family, juvenile and housing referrals from the Massachusetts court system
as a member of the North Shore Community Mediation Program where, in addition to casework and case
coordination, I was a board member. I am also a regular contributor to designing and implementing mediation training
programs and development work. I am a member of the New England Chapter and the National Association of Conflict Resolution
where I act as Ombudsman for the resolution of complaints against its members. I have manage the advanced
case Mediation Program at Harvard Law School for two and a half years.
As a member of the US Association of Ombudsmen I have contributed
to model standards for the operation of Ombudsman offices throughout the US.

My Philosophy
The
issues which result from poor system design and conflict
are universal. Failure to deal with these effectively mean too
much time, effort and cost is wasted by businesses and private
individuals and opportunities are lost for avoiding
re-occurences.
I
believe it is better to resolve any problem effectively at the
earliest stage. Rather like seeing a doctor for
preventative care, this can be achieved by taking steps to
prevent disputes happening in the first place and by having
sound systems for dealing effectively with
conflict. If problems still occur I believe it is best
that they are dealt with in a way that is controlled by and
beneficial to all parties.
My
approach is to offer consulting, mediation, ombudsman and
coaching services to assist business, government and
individuals from wasting time, effort and money in
dealing with conflict unaided.

Originally from England, I have lived in MA with my family for nearly
five years. While living here I have been an active member of the local school community and have taken an interest in various
community issues. I also sing with a choir in Boston which performs regularly at Symphony and Jordan Halls.
